MLB Day-To-Day Pickem 2009

Basic Rules
Every day you pick one MLB team to win. If you're right, you get 1 point. If you're wrong, you get -2 points. If you win the next day you get 1 point added to that point for 2. The following day you get 2 more points for 4 on the streak and so on based on the scoring scale below. The game is designed to reward those with streaks.
Scoring
Any Loss: -2
1st win: 1
2nd consecutive win: 1 (2 total)
3rd consecutive win: 2 (4)
4th consecutive win: 2 (6)
5th consecutive win: 3 (9)
6th consecutive win: 3 (12)
7th consecutive win: 3 (15)
8th consecutive win: 3 (18)
9th consecutive win: 4 (22)
10th consecutive win: 5 (27)
11th+ consecutive win: 6 (33+)
The scores will be kept monthly. Streaks will carry over from month to month. If you're on a 4 game win streak and your 5th win in a row is on June 1st you get 3 points instead of 1. Yearly standings will also be kept.
Standings Tiebreakers
1) Number of Correct Picks
2) Number of Correct DMU Picks
3) (Correct) Pick Percentage
4) (Correct) DMU Pick Percentage
5) Longest Streak
DMU's
In each weekly update, I will be posting the DMU picks for that week. DMU picks are designed to be the toughest games to pick based on my judgement. DMU's double the amount of points you would get for the win, but if you get the pick wrong you lose 4 points instead of 2. I denote DMU's with *'s at the end of the game in the weekly schedule listing. If you pick a DMU but don't mark the *, its still a DMU for scoring purposes. The opposite is true too, if you mark a * on a non-DMU, its still a non-DMU.
Passes
For any day with 5 or less games scheduled, you can simply pass for that day and pick no games with no penalty. You must say "pass" in your post to indicate a pass, leaving it blank will result in a loss.
Missed Days/Weeks
If you either forget or choose not to pick a game on days with 6 or more games scheduled, you miss that day and receive -2 for the day. For every week's worth of games that you miss you will be deducted 8 points (-8). If you miss a week thats longer than 7 days (for this games' purpose at least) you'll be deducted one extra point per day. A month missed will be 25 points off (-25). This total is subject to change based on how scores are shaping up under the new scoring system.
You'll need to pick at least 50% of games for a month to potentially earn any bonus points from that months standings.
You'll need to pick at least 60% of games to be eligible from the day you started picking to be eligible for the playoffs. This includes monthly winners.
Deadlines
In order to make a pick each day you need to post your selection before the first MLB game of the day begins.
I will try to post DMU selections at least 3 days in advance of the week. Each week will run Monday to Sunday for the most part. If you have not made any selections for a week by Saturday night you will be sent an email reminder about the coming weeks games unless its obvious you're making your picks daily or in some other form of frequency.
You can only choose any MLB team a maximum of twice during each week of the season.
Postponed Games
If you select the winner of a game that is postponed, however it is made up in the same series, with the same pitching matchup, you're pick remains intact.
If you select the winner of a game that is postponed but not made up in the same series, or the pitching matchup changes for the makeup game, you will have 5 days (meaning, if the rainout happens on a Saturday you will have until 11:59 PM the following Thursday to make your new pick) to select a make-up pick or you will be given a loss for that day. The make up pick must be a game played within a week of the original games. If the game is rained out on a Saturday, the make up pick will have to be a games played the following Friday or earlier.
If your postponed game happens in the final week of a month you will be emailed a warning to get your pick in by the end of the month or you'll be given a loss. No make-up pick will be made after the third day of the following month for postponements that happen in the final few days of a month.

Playoffs
Round 1 (12): [TUE] September 1st to 7th [MON]

Championship (3): [MON] September 28th to October 4th [SUN]
Monthly winners will qualify for the playoffs again. Wild cards based on overall regular season standings will fill the postseason field up to 12. Monthly winners will still be required to pick at least 60% of the games for the year to be admitted to the postseason. If they fail to meet that the second place team will take their place. If a person wins a month for a second time the second place team will take their place. Streaks and scores from the regular season will not carry over into the postseason and streaks won't carry over from playoff round to playoff round.
The bottom 7 (6th through 12th) seeds based on regular season standings will take part in the 1st round. The top 3 scores from the first round will join the top 5 seeds from the regular season in the second round.
The second round will feature 8 teams divided into two groups of four, seeded and starting points as such:

1 Seed from regular season [3]
4 Seed from regular season [1]
Highest Seed (based on regular season scores) qualifying from Round 1 [0]
Lowest Seed (based on regular season scores) qualifying from Round 1 [0]
Group 2
2 Seed from regular season [2]
3 Seed from regular season [1]
5 Seed from regular season [0]
Middle Seed (based on regular season scores) qualifying from Round 1 [0]
The semifinal round will feature the two group winners and runners-up as well as the highest scoring team outside of those four. The starting scores will be as such:
Higher Scoring Group Winner (in terms of round 2 score) [2]
Lower Scoring Group Winner (in terms of round 2 score) [1]
Highest Seed (based on regular season scores) outside of the group winners [1]
Middle Seed (based on regular season scores) [0]
Lowest Seed (based on regular season scores) [0]
The championship round will take the three best scores from the semifinals and carry them over for the final week of the season, but all streaks will start over.

This is so not one of my more favorite games the ASFL2 plays... Don't suppose I could just call one team for every day and pray they get lucky, eh?  I'll work a little harder on this game this year...

Whatever format you want is fine, as long as i can figure out which team you're picking. Just post the winner. I will get the list of games for week 1 up tonight along with the dmu's.
